PentoMag® Neutralises Sulfuric Acid Deposits
Magnesium-based additives increase efficiency of the boiler while neutralising sulfuric acid fouling and corrosion.
In the combustion chamber, vanadium pentoxide deposits are eliminated by PentoMag by forming magnesium vanadates with a high melting point. The vanadium pentoxides cannot serve as catalyst for the transformation of SO2 to SO3 anymore.
Reduce Corrosion
Less SO3 means less sulphuric acid deposits in the back end. PentoMag not only removes the vanadium pentoxide in the combustion chamber, but actively neutralises the sulphuric acid in the back end increasing the pH above 4.
Reduce Fouling
Without sulphuric acid in the back end, dust from the boiler no longer sticks anymore to the superheater or airheater surface. This means no increase in differential pressure over time.
Increase Efficiency
As we increase the pH above 4 and eliminate all SO3 and sulfuric acid, the exit gas temperature can be reduced to as low as 120°C. This results in a huge saving of fuel oil (typically 2% less fuel for same production capacity).

Reduce Emission
As the SO3 is condensed and neutralised by PentoMag, the typical SO3 related white-blueish plume disappears. Under certain conditions, Pentol guarantees an SO3 emission below 2ppmv.
Reduces Maintenance Work
Vanadium pentoxide deposits in the boiler and suluric acid deposits in the back end are removed by PentoMag. Therefore the boiler does not need to be cleaned manually anymore and the lifetime of the air heater is extended.
Summary
PentoMag cleans the boiler and increases efficiency at the same time.
The efficiency increase exceeds the cost of the additives.
The carbon emission footprint is reduced.
Combine PentoMag with PentoMuls water-in-oil technology for even lower emissions.
